Bombardier Transport

Bombardier required a 1 km-long test tunnel to validate its new Aur train cars under conditions replicating the Montreal Metro using fabric buildings for transportation. Installed on a powder-concrete foundation, a MegaDome XP fabric building (60′ × 315′) with 7-foot bay spacing includes insulated 60′ sections with side shutters and multiple airlocks to counteract wind pressure from passing trains. An internal firewall within the tunnel protects against internal airflow disturbances.

Special Features

The 60′ section had multiple customized options: insulated with side shutters, and the entire building has several airlocks to counteract the thrust of the moving train. Firewall inside the tunnel (to control wind pressure inside) when the wagon is moving. Powder-concrete foundation.

Project

Bombardier Transportation needed a 1 km long test tunnel to test its new Aur cars. The mandate required the reconstruction of a subway track identical to that of the Montreal metro using fabric buildings.
