Made in Canada
MegaDome structures stand out for their cutting-edge engineering and the use of high-quality structural steel, ensuring strength and durability. With optimal corrosion protection provided by hot-dip galvanization and a reinforced steel alloy with zinc and nickel, our structures withstand the most demanding conditions. Their unique design, featuring ovalized tubes, offers superior strength while optimizing interior space. The absence of a central column and maximum wall clearance provide unmatched freedom for machinery and personnel movement while maximizing storage capacity.
With over 60 years of experience in design and installation worldwide, our company offers innovative and durable solutions tailored to your needs.
MegaDome Advantages
Our steel structure, covered with a flexible membrane, stands out due to its engineering, steel selection, corrosion protection, tube shape, and components. With over 50 years of experience in designing and installing steel structures worldwide, we have the expertise to provide you with an innovative, high-quality structure that is both strong and durable.
Our structures are made exclusively from structural steel. The mechanical and chemical properties of this steel are verified before processing, ensuring the quality of the final product.
MegaDome structures are made with ovalized tubes. This shape makes them stronger than round or rectangular tubes of similar dimensions. This unique design allows for the creation of a robust structure using significantly less steel.
Minimum of 50,000 psi
Years of research and testing at our facility have shown that this type of welding is fully compatible with pre-galvanized steel coating. It provides greater corrosion resistance than conventional welding.
Verified and validated with mill certificates for each tube
All mechanical components, such as bolts, nuts, and screws, are coated with an industrial-grade zinc-nickel layer, ensuring durable assembly quality and corrosion protection.
- Minimum resistance of 1,200 hours in salt spray testing (ASTM B117) – compared to the 500-hour market standard
- MegaDome is the only company in Canada accredited to weld structures using bronze
- Exclusive expertise in welding pre-galvanized steel without compromising the galvanization
- Welded areas remain corrosion-resistant and do not rust
- All welds are approved by company engineers
The lower section of the arches is always hot-dip galvanized after welding.
- This critical section, which connects the structure to the foundation, is more exposed to dust and corrosive elements.
- Hot-dip galvanization ensures steel protection and long-term durability.
Corrosive Environments
Each dome arch is dipped in molten zinc after welding, providing superior structural protection.
- This treatment is ideal for corrosive environments.
- Hardware components are coated in zinc-nickel, while other parts are made of pre-galvanized steel.
Highly Corrosive Environments
The entire structure, including all arches, purlins, bracing, end frames, and other components, is fully dipped in molten zinc after welding.
- Best-in-class protection for the structure and its assembly components
- Ideal for highly corrosive environments
- Hardware is zinc-nickel coated, and cables are made of stainless steel
Advantages of Steel
- Steel is an extremely strong material, capable of supporting heavy loads and withstanding the harshest weather conditions.
- It offers exceptional longevity, especially when protected against corrosion through galvanization, specialized alloys, or anti-corrosion coatings.
Lighter than other materials, yet maintains an excellent load-bearing capacity, reducing the overall weight of structures.
- Easily modified and adaptable, steel allows for custom designs and expansions without requiring a complete rebuild.
- Enables the creation of large-span structures without central columns, optimizing interior space.
Steel components are typically manufactured off-site, reducing assembly time on location and accelerating construction timelines.
- 100% recyclable with no loss of quality, making it a sustainable and environmentally friendly material.
- The use of recycled steel helps reduce the carbon footprint of many projects.
