Peace River Regional District

Serving the rigours of northern Alberta’s winters, the Peace River Regional District installed an XP MegaDome Fabric Building for Road Equipment (80′ × 184′) atop sturdy concrete block foundations. Designed to shelter large quantities of municipal salt and sand, the clear-span structure ensures efficient loading access and year‑round protection, contributing to safer and more reliable road maintenance operations. Its economical, purpose-built design optimizes storage, accelerates seasonal deployment, and supports rapid response to winter weather demands.

Project

The Peace River Regional District in Alberta faces harsh winter conditions, characterized by heavy snowfall and icy roads. To ensure road safety and maintenance throughout the winter season, proper storage of salt and sand is essential. After evaluating several options, the regional district chose a MegaDome structure due to its numerous advantages and competitive offering.

The large-span design allows for the storage of significant quantities of salt and sand, ensuring a continuous supply during prolonged winter periods. Additionally, the efficient use of space and easy access provided by the MegaDome streamline loading and distribution processes, enabling quick responses to changing weather conditions.
