Fabric Buildings Components
Steel Structure
MegaDome steel structures and fabric building components are distinguished by their engineering, choice of steel, corrosion protection, use of oval tubes, and high-quality components. Our company has proudly engineered, designed, and installed steel structures around the world for over 50 years. Our extensive experience allows us to offer innovative, top-quality structures that are both robust and durable.
We proudly design and manufacture our steel structures directly in Quebec, Canada. This local approach guarantees high-quality products that comply with the National building code.
Our structures only use the best quality structural steel. This type of steel’s mechanical and chemical properties are analyzed before processing, guaranteeing the final product’s quality.
MegaDome® structures use oval tubes, which are more resistant than round or rectangular tubes of similar dimensions. This feature allows us to design a robust structure with considerably less steel.
After welding, we hot-dip the lower sections of our arches, the areas most exposed to dirt and corrosive elements, to provide extra steel protection and enhance the structure’s durability. We build the rest of the structure using pre-galvanized steel. For superior protection in highly corrosive environments, we also offer two additional galvanization options:
Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel
After welding, we dip each arch of the structure into a molten zinc solution. By performing this process after transformation, we ensure maximum protection for the structure, making it ideal for corrosive environments. We use zinc-nickel hardware and pre-galvanized steel for other components.
Hot-Dip + Galvanized Steel
We immerse the entire structure, including all sections of the arch, spars, braces, butt structure, and other parts, in molten zinc after welding. This process, completed after transformation, provides the highest level of protection for the structure and its assembly components, making it perfect for highly corrosive environments. We use zinc-nickel hardware and stainless steel cables for added durability.
Years of research and testing at our facility have shown that this type of welding is fully compatible with pre-galvanized steel coating, making it significantly more corrosion-resistant than conventional welding.
MegaDome is the only accredited company in Canada that is authorized to weld structures with bronze.
- Unique expertise in welding pre-galvanized steel structures without compromising the galvanization.
- The weld and surrounding area are corrosion-resistant and do not rust.
- The company’s engineers approve all welds.
Fabric Cover
The PowerShield® membrane is the most advanced polymer technology on the market. Waterproof and durable, this premium covering protects your valuable assets from the elements.
Thanks to the natural lighting they provide, these structures create a luminous environment surpassing that of traditional buildings. Thus, they reduce the need for artificial lighting, contributing to significant energy savings.
Moreover, thanks to our partner, NovaShield, our fabrics are the first in the world to achieve Cradle to Cradle (C2C) certification. This distinction underlines their positive impact on sustainability in five key categories, reinforcing their ecological value for users and the planet.
We also offer the PowerShield agricultural membrane, specially designed to meet the needs of users of farm buildings for livestock. This unique membrane lets in 30% more light, compared with 16% for a standard membrane, enabling better solar sterilization. The increased light level helps reduce veterinary care costs through a healthier environment. Moreover, PowerShield helps maintain lower humidity levels, adding to livestock welfare and facility efficiency.
The PowerShield membrane is manufactured in our factory, where our expert team assembles large strips of fabric into a single piece using a hot welding process. Rigorous quality controls are conducted throughout production to ensure thickness, weld strength, and color uniformity, resulting in a homogeneous, high-quality final fabric.
Elite fabric, available in fire-retardant and non-fire-retardant versions, is manufactured with ArmorKote technology, incorporating special resins to create a stronger, higher-performance fabric. This innovation offers superior UV protection, increased abrasion resistance and improved durability against cracking. With a 20-year warranty, Elite membrane represents a reliable, long-lasting investment for your structures.
- Our membranes are available in a range of colors to suit your needs, and you can add your own branding.
- You can also choose the color of the strip.
Our white membrane lets in 16% natural light, creating a luminous environment while reducing energy costs.
Depending on your industry, applications and requirements, PVC fabric covers are an ideal solution thanks to their durability, versatility, chemical resistance, long service life and excellent value for money. With its amorphous structure containing halogens such as chlorine and fluorine, PVC offers remarkable chemical stability. This gives PVC fabrics enhanced resistance to fire, chemicals and oils, making them a reliable, high-performance choice for your buildings.
For industrial projects, you can opt for a membrane with a fire-retardant additive that complies with building code standards. This additive prevents the membrane from acting as an accelerant, reducing the risk of fire propagation. This option eliminates the flame rather than adding fuel, as many other building materials do.
We offer a 15-year warranty on the PowerShield membrane. Coverage is 100% for the first two years, then pro-rated for subsequent years.
